Welcome to Briggswath & Sleights Methodist Church

There is no Methodist Church in Whitby; but we are on the outskirts of the town.

How to find us
Briggswath is on the road connecting the village of Ruswarp to the A169 Whitby - Pickering road on the west side of the river Esk at Sleights. The church is at the junction of Carr Hill Lane and The Carrs, almost opposite Perry's garden centre.

The church postcode is YO21 1RS.

We are a short walk from Sleights railway station, a stop on both the North Yorkshire Moors and Esk Valley (Whitby - Middlebrough) lines

About the building
The present church building, replacing an earlier one built in the 1820's, was opended in 1905, with a further extension at the rear in the 1970's. The chapel still retains much of its old charm with original wood panelling and stained-glass windows and Vincent Sutherland organ built in 1923, but the building also enjoys a more modern heating system and kitchen.

The schoolroom is used by the Sunday School and by chapel groups, and can be also used by other groups for activities or events.
All are welcome
